Peptide Law by State: Free Dataset and Enforcement Data (2026)

The short version

  • 29 enforcement and regulatory actions on peptide and GLP-1 sellers from 2025-04-23 to 2026-10-14 (FDA warning letters, DOJ cases, manufacturer lawsuits, state attorney general cases, FDA proposals and votes), each tied to a primary document.
  • 6 of 7 peptides passed the FDA advisory committee in July 2026 (BPC-157, KPV and TB-500 by 8 to 6), none by more than three votes; DSIP failed 6 to 7. No rule has followed.
  • 19 of 50 state pharmacy boards have a published position on compounded or research-grade GLP-1 drugs.
  • 3 state medical boards (Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi) told licensees in 2026 they may not prescribe, administer or dispense research-grade peptides.
  • 10 states name a peptide hormone in their own drug law (Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, West Virginia); 6 schedule human growth hormone.
  • 26 actions in individual states (attorney general suits and settlements, pharmacy board orders and fines, licence actions, warning letters, consumer alerts and seller lawsuits) across 14 states. On top of that, 38 attorneys general wrote to the FDA in February 2025 about counterfeit and research-grade GLP-1s; 29 of their states are recorded in the data.

This page collects the Bureau's state law research and its enforcement tracker in one place, as downloadable data. Every row links to the statute, board statement, court filing or agency page it rests on. It is free to use with a link back (licence below). Research peptides are discussed in a regulatory context only; nothing here is medical or legal advice.

The July 2026 advisory committee votes

The FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted on 23 and 24 July 2026 on adding seven peptides to the 503A bulks list. Six passed and one failed. The votes are advisory; no rule has followed as of 20 October 2026. Tallies from the McDermott Will & Emery meeting summary, cross-checked against AJMC, PharmExec and STAT reporting (the FDA meeting page does not publish counts).

Method

State entries were researched from each state's controlled substances act and schedules, its board of pharmacy and medical board websites, and attorney general press releases, and checked against the linked source in late September 2026 (the state pages carry each check date). Federal entries are listed only when a primary source could be opened: the FDA warning letter database, justice.gov, a state attorney general, a court filing or the company's own release. Confidence is marked per state in the data. Where nothing was found the field says so; nothing is inferred.
