Best Place to Buy Semaglutide (Nov 2026): Prescription Prices and Research Vials

Two answers
It depends on the purchase
For a person: a state-licensed pharmacy, with a prescription. Novo Nordisk's self-pay prices start at $149 a month for the pills and $349 for the pens. For laboratory research only: Amino Club, at $49.99 for 10 mg, the lowest list price per mg among the Bureau's partner stores, with a lot that measured 10.56 mg. Those are different products. A research vial is not a cheaper route to the medicine, and FDA has warned companies that sell it that way.

Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Wegovy, Ozempic and Rybelsus, all FDA-approved prescription medicines. It is also sold by peptide stores, usually under a code name, as an unapproved reagent for laboratory work. So "where do I buy it" has no single answer. This page takes the two markets in turn, using each seller's own pages and reports as they stood on 2 November 2026.

Disclosure: the store buttons further down are affiliate links and may earn the Bureau a commission at no cost to you. The Bureau earns nothing from prescriptions and has no pharmacy or clinic partner on this page. Stores run in the order of its vendor scorecard.

Prescribed semaglutide: Novo Nordisk's prices without insurance

MedicineStrengthSelf-pay, per month
Wegovy pill1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 and 25 mg$149, $199, $299
Wegovy pen0.25 to 2.4 mg$349. New patients: $199 for two fills of 0.25 or 0.5 mg through 31 Dec 2026
Wegovy HD pen7.2 mg$399
Ozempic pen0.25, 0.5, 1 mg; 2 mg$349; $499. Same $199 new-patient offer on 0.25 and 0.5 mg
Ozempic pill1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg$149, $199, $299
Rybelsus7 mg, 14 mgNo self-pay figure on NovoCare's Rybelsus page

Each needs a prescription, and which one fits is a prescriber's decision: Novo describes Wegovy for weight reduction and cardiovascular risk in people with obesity or overweight, and Ozempic and Rybelsus for type 2 diabetes. Rybelsus is being followed by the Ozempic pill; NovoCare says the 1.5, 4 and 9 mg tablets work similarly to Rybelsus 3, 7 and 14 mg and that moving requires a new prescription. Novo can change or end any of these programs.

  • With commercial insurance, Novo advertises as little as $25 a month on Wegovy and Ozempic, with savings capped at $100 a month.
  • On Medicare, its Wegovy page gives $50 a month through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, for eligible patients prescribed Wegovy for weight loss.
  • Paying yourself has a catch. Ozempic's page says a self-pay prescription is bought outside your plan, so it cannot be reimbursed or counted toward a deductible or out-of-pocket limit.
  • List prices are far higher: $1,349.02 per Wegovy package and $1,027.51 per Ozempic pen on Novo's list price page.

The semaglutide cost guide has the strength-by-strength arithmetic, and the oral semaglutide guide covers the tablets. The Bureau does not set these prices beside research vials per mg, because they do not buy the same thing.

Compounded semaglutide after the shortage

For a while, compounding pharmacies were the lower-priced route. That rested on semaglutide being in shortage, and it no longer is:

  • 21 February 2025: FDA determined that the semaglutide injection shortage was resolved.
  • 24 April 2025: a federal court denied the injunction sought by compounders, which ended the grace period for state-licensed pharmacies under section 503A.
  • 22 May 2025: the grace period for 503B outsourcing facilities ended.
  • Now: semaglutide is on neither the 503B bulks list nor FDA's shortage list, according to FDA's compounding page, current as of 1 April 2026.

FDA's position, current as of 1 October 2026, is that compounded drugs "should only be used in patients whose medical needs cannot be met by an FDA-approved drug." It also says salt forms such as semaglutide sodium and semaglutide acetate are different active ingredients from the one in the approved drugs, and that it is not aware of any lawful basis for compounding with them. The HHS peptide notice of 30 October 2026 does not change this: its six listed peptides do not include semaglutide. For prices that clinics publish themselves, see peptide therapy cost.

What FDA says about "research use" semaglutide

Read this before the store tables. FDA says it has warned companies that illegally sold unapproved drugs containing semaglutide falsely labelled "for research purposes" or "not for human consumption," where the products were sold directly to consumers for human use. It urges consumers not to buy these products, which it describes as being of unknown quality and potentially harmful to health, and to buy only from state-licensed pharmacies.

The rest of this page is written for laboratory buyers and treats the stores' research-only labels as meaning what they say. A clean lab report does not make a vial suitable for a person. ILS Laboratories, which tests Amino Club's lots, states on the report itself that it makes no representations about the intended use, safety, efficacy or regulatory status of what it tested. If you came here to treat a condition, the table at the top of this page is the one that applies to you.

Decoding the shelf: what each store calls it

Most research stores do not print the word semaglutide on the vial, and none of those using a code explains why. The reports are what tie a code to the compound:

StoreName in the storeWhat the lab report saysVial
Amino ClubAMP-1 (SM) in its product data, GLP-1 (SM) on the pageGLP-1 (SM), identity test set against "Semaglutide (GLP-1)"10 mg
Ascension PeptidesS-5"S-5" from Kovera Labs; "Semaglutide" from MZ Biolabs on the earlier lot5 mg

Limitless BiotechBehind a research access applicationNot readNot read
PSPeptidesGLP-1 SemaglutideSemaglutide10 mg

Three mix-ups to avoid. LUV-31 at Luvaminos is not semaglutide, despite sharing a number with semaglutide's 31 amino acids: its report identifies SS-31, a four-residue peptide, and Luvaminos' sitemap shows no semaglutide listing. A "GLP" prefix does not settle it: Amino Club's GLP-2 (TR) is a different compound, and Aurelia Research's coded GLP vials showed no semaglutide in the Bureau's price feed. Combination vials are something else again: PSPeptides' CagriSema and Penguin Peptides' GLP-1 C + GLP-1 S each hold two peptides, so their milligrams do not compare with a single-compound vial.

The Bureau tested nothing here; each row is one store-published report on one sample. The widest miss is an overfill. Ascension's June batch held 18% more than its label, where its February lot held 4% more, so a calculation done from the words on the vial would be out by that margin. Amino Club's is the only report here that shows a second vial from the same lot, at 10.48 mg and 99.04% purity. Its stated purity is capped at 99.9% by the lab's own note.

What else these labs looked for, and how far to trust them

  • Amino Club. Sterility by PCR, no growth. Endotoxin no more than 0.05 EU/mL. Five metals and a fentanyl immunoassay, not detected. Identity is by HPLC retention time against a reference standard, not by mass spectrometry. Its product page describes ILS as "Independent, ISO/IEC 17025 accredited", but ILS's own site says its quality system is based on that standard and that "peptide testing is not within any accreditation scope."
  • Ascension Peptides. The June report adds LC-MS identity, endotoxin below 0.20 EU/mL and four metals passing. Its sterility line is a rapid screen, and the report says full compendial testing may be required for regulatory compliance. The store's page calls its labs accredited; the Bureau has not verified that.
  • NextgenPeps. LC-MS/MS identity and endotoxin below 0.05 EU/mL. No sterility or metals line, and with no lot number the report cannot be matched to a vial by number.
  • PSPeptides. The longest list: mass identification, USP 71 sterility, endotoxin below 5 EU per vial, four metals and fentanyl, all clear. The certificates come from one lab, North American Diagnostics, whose website was registered on 1 June 2026 and names no owner or accreditation, so the tests are not shown to be independent. See the PSPeptides page.

The peptide testing guide explains what each of these assays can and cannot show.

A CAS number worth a second look

Ascension's Kovera report prints the molecular formula of semaglutide itself, C187H291N45O59, next to CAS number 1997361-85-9. PubChem files that number under semaglutide acetate, a salt with a different formula. The usual semaglutide number, 910463-68-2, appears on Amino Club's product page and on an earlier NextgenPeps report. A printed reference number does not prove which form a vial holds, and the two entries on this report simply disagree. It matters because of how FDA treats salts in the compounding section above, so a lab with a stake in the question should ask the store.

Per mg is list price divided by the label, before any code, so it flatters neither an overfill nor a discount. Sale prices move: the Bureau's 27 October read had Ascension's 5 mg vial at $65.00. Outside the partner list, Penguin Peptides sells GLP-1 S at $59.00 for 5 mg, $69.00 for 10 mg, $102.00 for 20 mg and $152.00 for 30 mg; there is no button because it is not a partner, the Bureau did not read that report, and its record is in the Penguin review.

Shipping, as each store puts it: Amino Club is free over $100, so one vial does not reach it. NextgenPeps is free over $150 and reships a wrong item free. PSPeptides' banner offered free shipping on any order. Ascension charges a flat $15 by UPS, says all sales are final, and its S-5 page advertises free shipping over $250.

Why Amino Club is the laboratory pick, and what counts against it

It has the lowest list price per mg among partner stores that show a price, the highest score on the scorecard among those that do, a recent lot, and a report covering two vials. Three things count against it. Its identity test does not use mass spectrometry, as the partners' other reports do. Its lab's own site contradicts the accreditation wording on the store's page. And its independent record is thin: Finnrick has counted one classifiable Amino Club sample, which did not pass, as the Amino Club review sets out. One test is not a track record, in either direction.

A lab that cares most about identity by mass spectrometry would look at NextgenPeps' or Ascension's reports instead, at a higher price per mg and with the caveats above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the best place to buy semaglutide?

If it is for a person, a state-licensed pharmacy with a prescription: FDA urges consumers to buy from state-licensed pharmacies, and Novo Nordisk's self-pay prices start at $149 a month for the pills and $349 for the Wegovy and Ozempic pens. For laboratory research only, the Bureau's pick on 2 November 2026 is Amino Club, at $49.99 for a 10 mg vial before code 100.

How much is semaglutide without insurance?

On Novo Nordisk's pages on 2 November 2026: Wegovy pill $149 to $299 a month by strength, Wegovy pen $349, Wegovy HD $399, Ozempic pen $349 or $499 at 2 mg, Ozempic pill $149 to $299. New patients pay $199 for the first two fills of the two lowest pen strengths through 31 December 2026. A prescription is required.

Are S-5, AMP-1 (SM) and GLP-1S semaglutide?

They are store names for it. Ascension Peptides' earlier S-5 report names the compound as semaglutide, Amino Club's AMP-1 (SM) report sets its identity test against semaglutide, and NextgenPeps' GLP-1S report gives semaglutide as its identity result. LUV-31 at Luvaminos is not: its report identifies SS-31.

Can a pharmacy still compound semaglutide?

Only narrowly. FDA declared the injection shortage resolved in February 2025 and its grace periods have ended. FDA says compounded drugs should only be used in patients whose medical needs cannot be met by an approved drug, and that it knows of no lawful basis for using salt forms such as semaglutide sodium or acetate in compounding.

Is semaglutide labelled for research use safe to take?

The Bureau does not call any such product safe for people. FDA says it has warned companies for illegally selling semaglutide falsely labelled for research purposes to consumers, and urges consumers not to buy these products, which it says are of unknown quality and may be harmful.

Which research vial came closest to its label?

Among the reports read on 2 November 2026, PSPeptides' 10 mg batch measured 9.81 mg, 2% under. Amino Club's measured 10.56 mg, NextgenPeps' 10.71 mg and Ascension's June lot of a 5 mg vial 5.92 mg, 18% over. PSPeptides' lab is not shown to be independent.
