What to know before buying ARA-290

ARA-290 is cibinetide, an 11 amino acid linear peptide (pGlu-Glu-Gln-Leu-Glu-Arg-Ala-Leu-Asn-Ser-Ser) modelled on helix B of erythropoietin, also called pyroglutamate helix B surface peptide (pHBSP). It does not stimulate red blood cell production and is studied for tissue protection through the innate repair receptor, including small nerve fiber loss and neuropathic pain.

Cibinetide is an investigational compound with no FDA approval (no product in Drugs@FDA, checked 1 Nov 2026); its developer Araim Pharmaceuticals ran phase 2 trials, including a 64 subject, 28 day phase 2b trial in sarcoidosis related small nerve fiber loss published in 2017. It is not on FDA's compounding safety page.

  • What to match on the certificate: Match the identity line to C51H84N16O21, average molecular weight 1257.3 (monoisotopic 1256.60), with the N-terminal pyroglutamate. Look for HPLC purity and mass spec identity on the same lot number as the vial.
  • Vial sizes: Research stores mostly sell 10 mg vials, with 16 mg and 50 mg at a few, so compare price on the same size.
  • What it costs: 5 stores the Bureau reviews list ARA-290; on 1 November 2026 the in-stock list prices ran from $4.69 per mg (Ion Peptides, 16 mg vial) to $6.00 per mg (Ascension Peptides, 10 mg vial), before any code.
  • Storage: Suppliers generally state that a lyophilized peptide keeps best sealed and frozen (around -20 C), and that once reconstituted it should be refrigerated and used within a short window or split into aliquots and frozen, avoiding repeated freeze and thaw.

How the Bureau picks

The pick is the vendor at the top of the Bureau's vendor list that stocks ARA-290. Scores come from the scorecard, which weighs lab documentation, consistency, shipping and price, and a vendor cannot buy a score. Before any order, match the lot number on the vial to a certificate from a named third-party lab. More in the vendor scorecard.
